Every number from 11 to 19 is made of ONE ten and some extra ones.
The numbers 11 through 19 each have exactly one full group of ten PLUS some extra ones. They are like a full backpack with a few things stuffed in your pockets!
Breaking apart teen numbers:
1 Ten (10 blocks)
4 Ones (4 blocks)
Together they make 14 = 1 ten and 4 ones!
1 ten and 7 ones = what number?
Remember This!
In a teen number, the first digit is always 1 (the ten). The second digit tells you how many ones. In 13, the "3" means three ones.
