Count the angles and faces to identify any shape like a geometry expert!
An ANGLE is the space formed where two sides meet at a corner. A FACE is a flat surface on a 3D shape. In Grade 2, we sort and identify shapes by counting their angles and faces. A square has 4 right angles; a triangle has 3 angles (which may be different sizes).

The number of angles (2D) or faces (3D) helps us name and classify shapes!
A RIGHT ANGLE looks like the corner of a square âŦ or a book. It is exactly 90°. Shapes with right angles: square, rectangle, some triangles. Test it: place the corner of a piece of paper on the angle â if it fits perfectly, it's a right angle! đ
How to classify a shape by its angles:
A shape has 6 sides and 6 angles of equal size. What is it called?
Remember This!
A right angle tester: fold a piece of paper in half, then in half again. The corner you created is exactly 90° â a perfect right angle tool!
