Division Fact Fluency

Division facts are multiplication facts read backwards — learn one, get one free!

DIVISION FACTS are the "reverse" of multiplication facts. If you know your times tables, you already know the division facts! Just think: "What number times ___ equals ___?"

Multiplication

6 × 7 = 428 × 4 = 329 × 3 = 27

Related Division

42 ÷ 6 = 7 and 42 ÷ 7 = 632 ÷ 8 = 4 and 32 ÷ 4 = 827 ÷ 9 = 3 and 27 ÷ 3 = 9

Each multiplication fact unlocks TWO division facts — that's a great deal!

How to solve a division fact using multiplication:

1Read the division: 56 ÷ 8 = ?
2Turn it into a multiplication question: 8 × ? = 56
3Recall the multiplication fact: 8 × 7 = 56
4Answer: 56 ÷ 8 = 7 ✅

Division facts for ÷7:

7÷7=114÷7=221÷7=328÷7=435÷7=542÷7=649÷7=756÷7=863÷7=970÷7=10

Each quotient increases by 1 — these all come directly from the 7 × table!

🔑

Any number ÷ itself = 1. Any number ÷ 1 = itself. Division by 0 is undefined (impossible)!

✏️ Try It!

What is 63 ÷ 9?

💡

Remember This!

Practice division by writing fact families. Write all 4 facts for each set: 4 × 8 = 32, 8 × 4 = 32, 32 ÷ 4 = 8, 32 ÷ 8 = 4. Drill them all together!
