Multiplication Fact Fluency (Times Tables)

Know your times tables 0–10 by heart — the foundation of all math ahead!

FLUENCY means you can recall multiplication facts instantly — no counting on fingers, no skip-counting aloud. Knowing your times tables (0 through 10) makes fractions, division, multi-digit multiplication, and algebra much easier!

Quick-start tips for each table:

1× 0: always 0 (anything times zero is zero)
2× 1: always the number itself (identity property)
3× 2: double it (same as adding the number to itself)
4× 5: always ends in 0 or 5; skip count by 5s
5× 10: write a 0 at the end of the number
6× 9: digit sum of the product is always 9; use the finger trick!

The 3 × table:

3×1=33×2=63×3=93×4=123×5=153×6=183×7=213×8=243×9=273×10=30

Notice how each product is exactly 3 more than the one before!

9️⃣The magic ×9 finger trick
To find 9 × 7:
Hold up all 10 fingers. Fold down finger #7 from the left.
Left side: 6 fingers up. Right side: 3 fingers up.
Answer: 63!

Works for 9 × 1 through 9 × 10!
💡

The commutative property cuts your work in half! If you know 4 × 7 = 28, you also know 7 × 4 = 28 for free.

✏️ Try It!

What is 8 × 7?

Remember This!

Practice a few facts every day. Flash cards, multiplication grids, and timed drills all help. Goal: recall any fact from 0×0 to 10×10 in under 3 seconds!
